Reuseability & Recylability

Plastic bottles go substantially un-recycled and approximately 4 billion pounds end up in landfills every year in the USA alone. These bottles are for single use and should not be reused for fear of leaching of bisphenol-A (BPA) as the container wears.

NOTE

Tkaro is 100% recyclable and can be reused indefinitely, safe from wear and tear and bacteria buildup, unlike the plastic alternatives on the market.

Fossil Fuel Consumption

The transporation of designer bottled water and fruit and soda based beverages across the globe exponentially and unnecessarily increase fossil fuel consumption which, in turn, leads to increasing green house gases and global warming.

The Bow River Keeper, a member of the grassroots water preserving and protection advocacy organization, Water Keeper Alliance, estimates that “the manufacturing and transport of a one kilogram bottle of Fiji water consumes 26.88 kilograms of water (7.1 gallons), 0.849 kilograms of fossil fuel (one litre or 0.26 gal), and emits 562 grams of greenhouse gases (1.2 pounds).”

Economic Viability

Bottled water and fruit and soda based beverages are expensive!

In Canada, the average cost of one bottle of water can buy 2,000 glasses of tap water. In the USA, drinking the recommended daily amount of water solely by way of bottled water can cost an average of $1,400 per year; drinking the same amount of tap water costs around 49 cents annually (source: NY Times).
